CODY WAS ELEVATED TO THE VARSITY IN 2009 POST-SEASON AS A SOPHOMORE AND PLAYED IN THE CIF CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. IN 2010 CODY STARTED AT HIS NATURAL WIDE RECEIVER POSITION AS A JUNIOR. HE HAD AN OUTSTANDING 2010 SEASON AND IS AN OFFENSIVE LEADER. HE HAS THE SIZE, SPEED AND HANDS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST WR’S EVER AT WESTLAKE HS" - Jim Benkert, Head Coach-Westlake warriors
Athletic Statistics:
"Cody is a wide receiver in a tight ends body. Very athletic big man who has as a great body type that has all sorts of possibilities. He runs routes with the quickness and precision of a lot of wide receivers which is a major mismatch against linebackers. He has great hands and is fearless in attacking the ball. He plays the game aggressively and is a run-after-the-catch producer. Although he plays wide receiver, I think he is eventually a tight end and as a tight end is D-1 all the way. Confident he will run routes better than most if not all D-1 tight end prospects he competes against." - Chris Thomas, NFL Wide Receiver (ret.)
Athletic Honors & Awards:
Cody has been identified as one of the top rising juniors in the state of California. Cody is also one of the most versatile prospects we have seen and he plays for one of the top football programs in the state. He began his career as a QB on the Frosh and JV teams where he earned MVP honors both years. He had a career high game of 320 all-purpose yards as a sophomore. After the completion of his JV season, Cody was immediately brought up to varsity where he started at slot in Westlake's high-octane spread offense. Cody played in every playoff game in Westlake's 14-0 championship run. He's a big, strong, tough, and versatile athlete who has played right tackle, slot, tight end and quarterback. When you watch his video you will see what we saw -- he is never brought down by the first tackler and he is one of the best at yards after catch that we have seen! He will go wherever the team needs him most. Cody Tuttle is projected to be a top TE prospect by the time his senior season rolls along. He can block, catch and run with the best of them. He has natural aggressiveness for the sport of football and is a great team leader with smarts to go along with the brawn. Cody is also a standout basketball player who can bang with the best of them in the low post position. A relentless worker who will give you 110% both on and off the field. Cody is a gamer who has great upside potential with plenty of size, speed and natural ability. Cody will develop into one of the top prospects in the SoCal region for the Class of 2012.

Colleges Plans & Interests:
Division I football coaches are beginning to cast their votes on the Class of 2012 and early returns indicate that Westlake standout Cody Tuttle is at the top of many of their ballots.
The 6’ 3” 215 lbs. receiver with exceptional hands, dominating power and deceptive speed had a breakout season in 2010 as the Warriors captured their second consecutive league championship. Considered the team’s best all-around athlete Tuttle’s numbers were noteworthy, 34 receptions for 484 yards and 3 TDs. However, they were not nearly as impressive as his uncanny ability to make clutch plays, often in spectacular fashion, when his team needed them most. Against powerhouse St. Bonaventure he had a career high 9 catches for 136 yards and 1 TD. And, in the playoffs against the same school, he made what many consider to be the “Catch of the Year,” a phenomenal acrobatic grab to preserve the victory.
While most coaches project Tuttle as a tight end, slot receiver or H-back, some are so impressed with his fearlessness, strength and toughness that they are attempting to convince him to switch to defense and play linebacker. It is unlikely, but for the right school he is willing to consider the possibility.
“I have a passion for football and will play anywhere that will help my team,” said Tuttle. “I’ve played quarterback, receiver, tight end, linebacker, even defensive end. I just love to play and especially win.”
Coaches are calling Tuttle the “total package.” In addition to being an outstanding athlete, the sure-handed receiver is also a superb student. His 3.5 GPA and high standardized scores have already garnered him an Ivy League offer from Harvard University. It is unquestionably the first of many he will receive in the coming months. Whichever school ultimately lands this top prospect will certainly have nabbed one of the nation’s best student–athletes.
