Cottrell plays the RUSH OLB position in the Plano West 3-4 defense.
He is a versatile athlete who can drop in coverage or pin his ears
back play the run or rush the passer. Expect Cottrell to receive a
lot of attention this season because Plano West has lost several
departing lettermen on defense from last years squad. Cottrell is
eager to display his new pass rushing techniques as well as his
improved agility. Thus far in the off-season he has shown the ability
to dip his shoulder and get past offensive tackles as a pass rusher,
he has looked smooth dropping into coverage and has shown the speed to
cover backs and tight ends man to man. rnrnBryce displays good weight
distribution, great feet, and a quick take off. On film you will see
he keeps his feet underneath him while using his hands, displaying
violent releases. His long arms, speed and strength allow him to shed
blockers and get to the ball. He shows great vision, awareness,
flexible hips that allow him to get around corners and change
directions with ease and the acceleration and burst to get to the
QB.rnrnBryce will be recruited as a LB or DE but again he's very
versatile and can fit in to any scheme. Expect this kid to put up big
numbers this up comming season and rise up the charts. rn
